Dogara congratulates Bishop Idowu–Fearon
Speaker Dogara
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has congratulated the- Most Reverend Josiah Idowu-Fearon, on his appointment as the Secretary-General of the Consultative Council of the Anglican Communion Worldwide.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Turaki Hassan, Dogara said he is highly elated with the emergence of Reverend Idowu-Fearon as the second highest in the Anglican Church word wide.
The Speaker said the appointment is a testimony of the Bishop’s stewardship as a committed man of God, lover of peace and a spiritual father.
He said over the years, Bishop Idowu-Fearon has helped in bridging the religious divide in Nigeria with his peace gospel and inter-faith missions between Christians and Muslims.
The Speaker charged him to use his new office to push for global peace, dialogue and religious harmony amongst the people of the world.
“More than ever before, the world is in dire need of angels like Idowu-Fearon at the helm of affairs of religious organizations to help bring about the much needed peace and stability,” he said.
He said war is gradually threatening the very existence of humanity and that the world is drifting towards violence occasioned by activities of terrorists groups like Boko Haram and ISIS.
“It is regrettable that in our world today, human life is becoming very cheap.  Religious leaders like Bishop Idowu-Fearon have a big task ahead and I have no doubt in my mind that he will succeed.”
This, he said, is the challenge facing the human race for which only men of faith like Bishop Idowu-Fearon can help preach peace and bring about religious harmony.
He expressed optimism that he will make Nigeria proud.
