Wow!! Fan Gives Wizkid Gold Chain On Stage

It is not unusual to see artistes giving their fans chains, watches and other accessories while on stage.

Some of the artistes even get mobbed and dispossessed of their possession while performing.

However, it was the other way round for ‘Ojuelegba’ singer and Glo ambassador, Wizkid, who got a gold chain from a loyal fan at the Fourth Season of the Glo Lafftafest concert which held at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, yesterday.

‘My people show me too much love man. Someone just gave me a gold chain now, and I’m so excited about it’.

The Surulere-born artiste asked the audience at the show to observe one minute silence for the people who lost their life in the ghastly accident that occurred when a 40-feet container fell on a container in Ojuelegba some days ago.

Meanwhile, Glo Lafftafest continues with shows in Benin, Port-Harcourt, Abuja, Ijebu- Ode, Abeoluta, and other parts of Lagos, running till November 8, 2015.

8 Crazy Things You Don’t Know About Phyno

Phyno, who’s real name is Chibuzo Nelson Azubuike has started his career back in 2003 as a producer. As a producer, he has worked with artists such as Timaya, Flavour, Ruggedman, Bracket, J Martins and Mr Raw. But in 2014 he released his debut studio album No Guts No Glory and everything had changed.

Phyno became a popular Igbo rapper with millions of fans. In less than three years of his debut in the industry as a rap artist, Phyno has been everywhere. But let’s take a look at something about Phyno you didn’t know:

Phyno Is A School Nickname

As a teenager Phyno liked to stand out and one day his friend Emeka called him ‘phenomenal’. In one of the interviews Phyno admitted that it was the first time he heard that word. In time Emeka started calling him phyno and that was how the name stuck to the rapper.

He Wanted To Be A Pilot

Music hasn’t always been what he wanted to do in life. As a kid he wanted to become a pilot! Can you imagine him and his crazy hairdo operating a plane? This would be interesting, but in that case we wouldn’t ever hear “Ghost Mode” so let’s thank Chibuzo that he gave up that dream.

Phyno Was Involved In A Scandal

Back in 2014 has been alleged to have joined the league of Nigerian celebrities with children out of wedlock. It is also being alleged that his alleged lover, Rita Edmond, was carrying his baby.

Phyno’s reaction has been quite obvious: “Believe it or not, I’ve never met or spoken to anyone by that name.

I haven’t made any woman pregnant either. If people need three seconds of fame I’m glad that my name could help”. Although both parties deny ever meeting each other, a reliable source says they are indeed lovers and their love affair started long ago.

He Is A Guiness Ambassador

In 2014 Phyno has become an ambassador of the multinational company in Nigeria for the new Made of Black campaign. Seni Adetu, Managing Director of Guinness Nigeria Plc described Phyno as daring and courageous in forging ahead on the path he believes in.

He Was Made By M.I, Mr Raw

During one radio interview Phyno revealed that he got his first big break through respected music icons M.I and Mr. Raw. He said that it ware this two artists who discovered his talent and gave him a platform to display it.

He Has Sexy Six Packs

Phyno has told the media that every time he wakes up he does up to 50 push-ups in order to stay fit and have six packs.

He Spends Fortune On His Shoes

And not only on his shoes – on his glasses too. He says that his shades and shoes take more money from him than any other fashion items.

He also said that he prefers to wear Ray Ban shades, that it feels like being a superstar when he does.

He Separates Phyno And Chibuzo

When the rapper was asked would he still wear his crazy hairstyle if he wasn’t a musician Phyno said that there is no way he would do that.

“No way. I won’t. The Phyno you are seeing is the artiste, Chibuzo is a regular guy. Chibuzo is the guy that wants to be alone; Phyno is the crazy guy, Phyno has his sane times.”

Migrant crisis: What next for Germany's asylum seekers?

FromEurope

ImageEPA

As large numbers of migrants and refugees travel to Germany in the hope of a new life, BBC News looks at how the country deals with such arrivals and its modern experience of migration.

What happens to asylum seekers on arrival?

The exhausted-looking people getting off trains in Munich and other German cities are being offered assistance then taken to initial reception centres.

Will they all stay in Munich?

No. The "Koenigsteiner Key" is used to distribute asylum seekers across Germany's 16 federal states, calculated according to their tax revenue and their population.

For example, North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany's most populous state, should take 21% of all asylum seekers, while Thuringia, the focus of several attacks on asylum accommodation, is set to receive under 3%.

ImageReutersImageThis migrant family are being escorted to buses at Munich's main railway centreImageEPAImageAsylum seekers are initially put in reception centres such as this one in Baden-Wuerttemberg

What's the process for claiming asylum in Germany?

An application for asylum is made at the reception centre on arrival, where personal details, fingerprints and photographs (for those over 14) are taken. A temporary permission to stay is granted.

Subsequently the asylum seeker will be invited to an interview to decide his or her case.

The current average time from application to decision is 5.3 months, according to the German government.

If granted refugee status, a residence permit for three years will be granted. After this time a permanent residence permit can be applied for.

More details are available from theFederal Ministry for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).

Who gets rejected?

Germany designates all EU states plus Ghana, Senegal, Serbia, Macedonia and Bosnia-Herzegovina as "safe countries of origin" - which means that asylum claims from nationals of these countries are likely to be rejected.

On 7 September the government announced that Kosovo, Albania and Montenegro would be added to this list.

Manfred Schmidt, President of BAMF, told Der Spiegel in August that 40% of all asylum seekers in Germany came from the Balkans, and their claims were likely to be unsuccessful.

What support are asylum seekers offered?

Asylum seekers stay at reception centres for up to six weeks, and a maximum of three months.

After that they are offered either communal accommodation, or housed individually, depending on the policy of the federal state.

Asylum seekers who are unable to support themselves financially "receive what they need for their day-to-day life", the German government says.

Support varies from state to state, but generally includes non-cash benefits covering food and accommodation costs, plus limited spending money.

ImageEPAImageTents have been put up at this former police barracks in Berlin to accommodate asylum seekers

Are asylum seekers allowed to work?

All asylum seekers are banned from working for three months.

After this period, they may, with the permission of the immigration authorities and the Federal Employment Agency, take on work, subject to various restrictions.

Those given a residence permit have unrestricted access to the labour market after four years.

What is modern Germany's experience of migration?

In the immediate aftermath of Germany's defeat in World War Two, large numbers of ethnic Germans found themselves on the move.

Millions were displaced from areas of present-day Poland, Russia and the Czech Republic as Germany's boundaries were re-drawn. The Potsdam conference in July 1945 also ordered that ethnic Germans be "transferred" from areas of Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary where some communities had been settled for centuries. Ethnic Germans also left homes in Romania and the former Yugoslavia in the post-War period.

In total around 13 million ethnic Germanshad to find a new home in West or East Germany.

In addition, almost 4.5m ethnic German resettlers from the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe have arrived since 1950.

ImageKeystoneImageMany ethnic Germans in eastern Europe - such as these enthusiastically welcoming the Nazi annexation of Czech Sudetenland in 1938 - were expelled after WW2

What about the 'guest workers' and non-German immigrants?

The booming economy of post-war West Germany required more workers, and from 1955 the Federal Republic signed "guest worker" agreements with Mediterranean countries such as Italy, Spain and - most significantly - Turkey.

Around 14 million guest workers and their families have come to Germany since 1955.

People of Turkish descent make up Germany's largest ethnic minority.

Initially the German government and the workers themselves planned for their stay to be temporary, and little effort was made to integrate them into wider German society.

ImageAFPImageBerlin has a large Turkish population

Communist East Germany also took on temporary workers from "fraternal socialist countries", including North Vietnam, Cuba and Mozambique, but, with the exception of the Vietnamese, most returned after German reunification.

In 1991 the newly reunified country enacted laws enabling Jews from the former Soviet Union to move to Germany -more than 200,000 Jewish people and their families immigrated in this way.

Around 350,000 people fleeing the Bosnian conflict were given temporary refuge in Germany in the 1990s, but most have since left.

How many migrants live in Germany today?

Government figures from 2014 show that 10.9 million of Germany's population of 81.1 million are immigrants

In total, 20.3% of Germany's population have "a migration background", the term German officialdom uses to describe immigrants or their children.

But Germany's population is shrinking, due to its low birth rate, and it could be argued, as our colleague Robert Peston writes, that it needs migrants to keep its economy going.

Asylum applications in Europe have surged this year - with numbers for Germany and Hungary already exceeding their totals for 2014. Altogether, 438,000 refugees had applied for asylum by the end of July - compared with 571,000 for the whole of last year.

According to figures from the UNHCR, Germany continues to be the most popular destination for migrants arriving in Europe. It has received the highest number of asylum applications, with more than 188,000 by the end of July 2015 - 15,416 more than in the whole of 2014.

But Hungary has moved into second place, as more migrants have tried to make the journey overland through Greece and the Western Balkans.

Although Germany had the highest number of asylum applications, Sweden tops the list when the data is viewed per 1,000 of the local population with a rate of almost 8 applications per 1,000.

The UK has a rate of 0.5 per 1,000 - one asylum application for every 2,000 residents.

Where do the migrants come from?

The conflict in Syria continues to be the by far the biggest driver of the migration. But the ongoing violence in Afghanistan, abuses in Eritrea, as well as poverty in Kosovo are also leading people to look for new lives elsewhere.

The EU is due to hold an emergency meeting in Brussels later this month - it has so far failed to agree on how to deal with the crisis. A proposal for quotas on the distribution of refugees has been rejected and tensions have been rising because of the disproportionate burden faced by some countries.

The UK has opted out of any plans for a quota system and, according to Home Office figures, has accepted 216 Syrian refugees under the Vulnerable Persons Relocation scheme since it began in January 2014. Prime Minister David Cameron says the UK will accept up to 20,000 refugees from Syria over the next five years.

Hungary has built a 175km (110-mile) fence along its border with Serbia, to try to slow the flow of asylum seekers into northern Europe.

Under the EU law known as the Dublin regulation, refugees should apply for asylum in the country in which they arrive and are first registered. But as the numbers have increased, the rules have been ignored and many migrants have been allowed through borders.

Although huge numbers have been applying for asylum, the figures do not tell the whole story.

The number of people being given asylum is far lower. In 2014, EU countries offered asylum to 184,665 refugees. In the same year, more than 570,000 migrants applied for asylum - although applying for asylum can be a lengthy procedure so many of those given refugee status may have applied in previous years.

There were more than 25,000 asylum applications in the UK in the 12 months up to June 2015. Most applications are typically rejected and in 2014, more than 60% of initial decisions on asylum applications were refusals.

In the same period, 6,788 asylum seekers and their dependents were removed or departed voluntarily from the UK.

How do migrants get to Europe?

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) estimates that more than 350,000 migrants were detected at the EU's borders between January and August 2015, compared with 280,000 detections for the whole of 2014. The figures do not include those who got in undetected.

The EU's external border force, Frontex, monitors the different routes migrants use and numbers arriving at Europe's borders.

The eastern Mediterranean route has overtaken the central route as the most commonly used this year - with Syrians forming by far the largest migrant group.

The 350,000 total detected so far this year at the EU's borders includes almost 235,000 who arrived in Greece and nearly 115,000 in Italy. About 2,100 arrived in Spain.

Most of those heading for Greece take the relatively short voyage from Turkey to the islands of Kos, Chios, Lesvos and Samos - often in flimsy rubber dinghies or small wooden boats.

Migrant deaths

The voyage from Libya to Italy is longer and more hazardous. According to the IOM, more than 2,500 migrants are reported to have died trying to make the crossing this year - altogether, 2,643 people have died in the Mediterranean in 2015.

The summer months are usually when most fatalities occur as it is the busiest time for migrants attempting to reach Europe.

But so far this year the deadliest month for migrants was April, which saw a boat carrying about 800 migrants capsize in the sea off Libya. Overcrowding is thought to have been one of the reasons for the disaster.

Syrian crisis

Asylum applications from Syrians in Europe have surged in 2015, fuelled by the country's vicious civil war which began more than four years ago and shows no sign of ending.

The vast majority of refugees have fled to neighbouring countries such as Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan, and the number of Syrians there far outweighs those who have made the difficult journey to Europe.

Viewpoint: Munich migrant welcome shames Europe

By Heribert PrantlInternal affairs editor, Sueddeutsche Zeitung

ImageAFPImageWelcome to Germany: A new arrival tries on a policeman's hat

The biblical story of the Good Samaritan came close to reality in Germany last weekend.

A gap-toothed little Syrian boy beamed as he was allowed to try on a Bavarian policeman's hat.

An exhausted man, unshaven for three days, couldn't help wiping a tear from his eye.

A cheerful young man was a picture of good humour, making a heart sign with his hands.

There were heart-warming scenes at Munich's main railway station. People who had spent weeks fleeing were greeted with applause, sweets and soft toys - not by some political activists, but by many ordinary citizens.

Those citizens had set off for the station in Munich and other German cities to demonstrate to the refugees: "You're not lepers, you're welcome - we respect you for what you've had to endure".

There were thousands of small gestures, made possible because Chancellor Angela Merkel had decided on one big gesture: Germany will take in the Syrian refugees who were stranded in Hungary.

The refugees were treated badly in Hungary; in Austria they were waved through - and in Germany they were welcomed.

Banishing Hitler

It was touching and grand - it is historic. Munich is the big German reception centre, the place where refugees get first aid, from the state, from a well-run administration, from a mayor with a heart and from a hospitable civil society.

Such goodwill doesn't solve the many problems faced by the state and society in integrating the refugees.

But it helps to tackle those problems. And perhaps that goodwill is infectious.

ImageEPAImageVolunteers handed out soft toys and other goodies to refugee children

Munich was the city of the 1938 Munich Agreement - the Hitler diktat that set in train the destruction and break-up of what World War One had still left intact.

Now in 2015 Munich could establish a new tradition: Munich as the name and symbol of protection and help.

The Prime Minister of Upper Bavaria, Christoph Hillenbrand, said a really remarkable thing at the weekend - so different from what one expects a German official to say: "Legal issues right now are not so important to me."

Above all, for the man responsible for receiving refugees in the greater Munich area, it is a question of "humanitarian management".

The official is picking up on the new line of Chancellor Merkel. Rules and instructions, Mrs Merkel says, are not as important right now as flexibility and first aid. The concern of quite a few European politicians that this help will attract more refugees is disgraceful, she argues.

Germany is establishing an alternative to the policy of deterring refugees.

How can EU resolve migrant crisis?

Far-right hostility

What's happened? Are we witnessing a miracle? Has Germany overnight become a paradise of charity? We should not exaggerate. German society, like in Europe as a whole, is torn between a willingness to help, a sense of helplessness, defensiveness and incitement.

Germany has an increasingly toxic anti-immigrant scene - their messages are marked by brazenness, death threats and incendiary language.

The threats are directed at refugees - "We'll burn you" - but recently they have also targeted politicians who stand up for refugees.

ImageEPAImageLast month a crowd in Heidenau hostile to migrants jeered Chancellor Merkel - one placard said "traitor"

Two weeks ago Mrs Merkel visited a migrant hostel in Heidenau, in the former East Germany, and got a sense of the hatred poured out by anti-immigrant activists. Her decision to accept refugees has to be seen in that light. She wanted to send a signal: Germany is no hotbed of neo-Nazis; Germany delivers help; Germany sets a good example for Europe.

Germany has two societies: one is enlightened, open, knowing that a good future depends on inclusion, and on making the four million Muslims living in Germany really feel at home. This generous society also knows that Europe cannot cut itself off and that a fortress Europe is absurd in a globalised world. Mrs Merkel is now in the vanguard of that civil society.

But alongside it is a second society, uncivil, noisy, hostile to foreigners, displayed in the so-called Pegida rallies in recent months.

Pegida is short for Patriotic Europeans against the Islamisation of the West. It gathers up grievances extending from the extreme right far into mainstream, middle-class Germany. But the many attacks on migrant hostels (almost 300 this year) have discredited the movement.

Multicultural Germany

The big welcome for refugees in Germany is a reaction by bright, friendly Germany against dark, anti-foreigner Germany. But bright Germany has not yet won a final victory.

In the past decades Germany has become a multi-faith, multicultural country.

ImageGetty ImagesImageTurkish street food in Kreuzberg, Berlin - a district with a large Muslim community

In 1950 Protestants and Catholics accounted for 96% of the population in both Germanies - east and west. Just 4% were either non-Christian or non-religious.

Today the picture looks substantially different: about 60% are Protestant or Catholic, 30% are non-religious and 10% belong to other faiths. Half of the latter are Muslims. The Jewish community is 100,000 strong.

Germany has become a colourful country, a migrant destination - yet Mrs Merkel's CDU/CSU bloc for a long time resisted that. The battle is over and the reception of the refugees is meant to show that - it's a new Germany now. Still the CSU in Bavaria is resisting a bit, because it doesn't want to lose some right-wing voters.

The acceptance of refugees, through the chancellor's policy decision, was first a message to her own party, second a message to German society and third, to the other EU member states.

To her party it means: gone are the days when the CDU strongly opposed immigration. To enlightened civil society the message is: I am with you, I respect fundamental human rights and stand up for them courageously. To the EU the message is: Germany is setting an example, Germany is helping, and hopes that you follow this example.

EU wake-up call

It is also an attempt to overcome the inertia in European asylum policy and to tackle a problem that will be with us for a century.

Mrs Merkel is showing leadership. She was cursed over her policy on Greece, accused of a lack of pity, especially in southern Europe. Now Germany's policy on refugees is contrasting with that.

The current welcoming policy will not lead to a German open-door policy. Soon there will be curbs again on the acceptance of refugees. The big, sudden welcome was an exception for an exceptional situation. But it was an historic decision.

It recalls a phrase from the White Rose leaflets, put out by a group that resisted Hitler in Munich: "If everyone waits for somebody else to begin, then nobody will begin!" That phrase comes from a bitter period - but it doesn't just belong in the museum of anti-Hitler resistance. Everyone must ponder for themselves today what that means, and what duty that points to. That goes for the EU heads of state and government, too.

Mikel Weeps, Begs Nigerian Football Federation For Snubbing Oliseh

CONTRARY to his public show of bravado when he shunned Super Eagles coach and the NFF in London, Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi has reached out to officials of the federation to plead for forgiveness.

According to SportingSun findings, Mikel called officials of the NFF from the northern part of the country where he spoke in Hausa language appalling to them to plead with coach Oliseh to forgive him for ignoring his calls when he visited London to meet with players like Victor Moses, Carl Ikeme to crave their commitment to the cause of the. national team.

According to the source, Mikel called some NFF officials last week to beg for forgiveness. He spoke to them in Hausa, weeping that they should. save his career by appealing to the coach to forgive him for shunning his calls.

He said his career was in danger if he was shut out of the national team completely. Since he is not playing regularly for Chelsea he reckons that his career could be over if he not invited to the national team” The decision on whether to invite him on not rests with Oliseh.

I Have Declared My Assets 4 Times – President Buhari

During his visit in Ghana today, President Buhari said he has so far declared his assets four times, for the four different times he has had cause to serve Nigeria in various capacities.

“I recall that in 1975 when late Murtala Mohammed became the Head of State, we were lined up – governors, ministers, members of the Supreme Military Council. Officials of Ministry of Justice were brought and every individual was made to declare his assets.

All Heads of States and Government, governors, ministers, permanent secretaries have to declare their assets because it is a constitutional requirement.

I have declared my assets four times. When I was governor in 1975, I declared. After being Minister of Petroleum and as a member of Supreme Military Council, I declared.

When I was Head of State and now as a President, I have also declared” he told journalist at his joint press conference with Ghanaian president John Mahama.

Nigerian Man Jailed For Life In UK For Murder (Photo)

A Nigerian fugitive, Abdul Adewale Kekere-Ekun, who was arrested on February 12, 2015 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, for identity theft-related offences, has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the United Kingdom.

He was jailed for the murder of 18-year-old Marcus Hall in 2001, following a brawl outside Luton’s Atmosphere Nightclub, where the popular music group, So Solid Crew, had performed.

Though 39-year old Mr. Kekere-Ekun, who goes by several aliases like Adebayo Dalvin James Ekun, Adeba Yo Kekere-Ekun, Adeba Yo Muta Lito Kekere-Ekun, James Dalvin, James Adebayo, had initially pleaded guilty to the murder charge before the Luton Crown Court, he later fled to Nigeria.

He was, however, arrested in Nigeria in February by the EFCC.

During investigation, it was revealed that Mr. Kekere-Ekun, who was arrested for fraud, was on the wanted list of the United Kingdom Police. Consequently, an extradition notice signed by the then Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, was served on him by the EFCC.

He was finally extradited to the United Kingdom, where he reportedly admitted to the killing.

Before his conviction Monday, seven of the gang members had been convicted in 2002 and 2003 for their part in Mr. Hall’s murder, but two convictions were later quashed.

Revealing how he was traced, the Bedfordshire Police said he was identified in CCTV footage of the attack, where he was wearing a distinctive checked coat.

Upon discovery of a flyer for the shop found by the Bedfordshire Police during a raid on his home, detectives went to a designer clothes store in London, where it was discovered that the jacket was one of only nine sold in the United Kingdom and the convict was listed as one of the buyers.

After the sentencing, Mr. Hall’s mother, Icelyn Wilson, in a statement issued through the Bedfordshire Police, was quoted to have said, ‘‘My son’s death still hurts as if it had happened yesterday and I will never get over it.

You did not just ruin one life, you left a ‘ripple effect’ which has impacted on everyone involved in my son, Marcus’ life.”

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has been accused by the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), of allegedly squandering over N120 billion during his first 100 days in office.

The APC, in a statement on Monday by its chairman, Davies Ikanya, said Governor Wike who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had been merely engaging in falsehood and propaganda.

The party alleged that the money included N30 billion Mr. Wike borrowed shortly after assuming office, the N10 billion left by the previous administration and over N80 billion that accrued from Internally Generated Revenue and the Federation Account.

The party said, “Chief Wike represents everything that should not be found anywhere near the corridors of power. He personifies inaction, profligacy, corruption, maladministration and vendetta.

“Wike has not initiated any meaningful project in Rivers State since he forcibly assumed office in May 29th through the blood of Rivers people and in connivance with the corrupt and demented State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dame Gesila Khan.”

“Apart from setting up the vindictive Judicial Commission of Inquiry and awarding contracts to his companies for the filling of potholes in Port Harcourt and Obio Akpor local government areas, Chief Wike cannot justify the expenditure of the N30 billion he borrowed plus the N10 billion left by the administration of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi and over N80 billion that has accrued to the State through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and from the Federation Account.”

The APC alleged that the governor presented roads constructed by Mr. Amaechi as those he constructed in the last 100 days in office, noting that no quality road could be constructed within six month let alone 100 days.

It also accused the governor of sponsoring a media war aimed at disparaging and decimating Mr. Amaechi’s character as well as visiting various churches to pray for forgiveness for the 100 people killed in the state in order to assume office.

The party said Mr. Wike could only boast of increase of insecurity, kidnapping, robbery and other criminal activities associated with a visionless administration.

“Today, all the initiatives of the Amaechi administration to curb insecurity in Rivers State have been annulled by Wike and his cohorts,” it said.

“The result is that Rivers residents now sleep with two eyes open as kidnapping, such as the case of Vanguard Columnist Donu Kogbara is now the order of the day.”

The APC also berated Mr. Wike for failing to declare his assets contrary to the dictates of the Nigerian Constitution that elected public officers should declare their assets.

It said, “We are, however, not surprised about his reluctance to make his assets public because he knows that if he does so, Rivers people and the entire world would be shocked to know that half of the property in Port Harcourt is owed by Chief Wike and his acolytes due to his greed and insatiable crave for wealth.”

The party lambasted Mr. Wike for refusing to constitute a cabinet, saying the governor preferred “to run the state from his bedroom in collaboration with former first lady, Patience Jonathan and other war lords that installed him as the Rivers State Governor.”

I Will Name My Cabinet This Month, Buhari Tells Ghana’s President

President Muhammadu Buhari Monday in Aburi, Ghana reassured Nigerians and the international community that he will name his cabinet before the end of the month.

President Buhari gave the assurance at a joint press conference with President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana.

“After I was sworn-in, I said I will have my cabinet in September. I expect that Nigerians should ask me questions after the 30th of September if I do not do so,” President Buhari said while responding to a question on the appointment of ministers.

President Buhari also told reporters that the Nigerian military, in close collaboration with the Multi-National Joint Task Force, has recorded remarkable progress in the fight against Boko Haram since he assumed office as President.

“The first thing I did after I came into office was to reorganize the military and clear orders were given to them in terms of retraining, re-equipping and redeployment of troops.

“In the northeast, the military is gaining ground and Boko Haram has been limited to the Sambisa forest.

“Internally Displaced Persons are gradually moving back home and they are being reintegrated into their respective communities,” President Buhari said.

On the declaration of assets, the President affirmed that it was a constitutional requirement that all public office holders in Nigeria should declare their assets before and after their term in office.

“I recall that in 1975 when late Murtala Mohammed became the Head of State, we were lined up – governors, ministers, members of the Supreme Military Council. Officials of Ministry of Justice were brought and every individual was made to declare his assets.

“All Heads of States and Government, governors, ministers, permanent secretaries have to declare their assets because it is a constitutional requirement.

“I have declared my assets four times. When I was governor in 1975, I declared. After being Minister of Petroleum and as a member of Supreme Military Council, I declared. When I was Head of State and now as a President, I have also declared.

Earlier, President Mahama said both leaders had fruitful discussions on how to enhance bilateral relations and improve regional security.

President Mahama said that Nigeria and Ghana will soon begin the process of reviving their joint commission for cooperation.

The Ghanaian President added that both leaders also agreed to encourage closer cooperation between the intelligence and anti-graft agencies of both countries.

He thanked President Buhari for his visit and assured him of Ghana’s support and cooperation with Nigeria in the fight against terrorism.
