Meet The Nigerian Governor Who Has Not Received Any Salary For 100 Days

The Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, said on Sunday that he has not received any salary since he assumed office due to inadequate funds in government coffers.

Mr. Lalong made the disclosure to Journalists in Plateau on Sunday night at a media chat to mark his 100 days in office. He said the media parley was for citizens of the state to assess his performance since he assumed office on May 29.

parley was for citizens of the state to assess his performance since he assumed office on May 29.

He said the financial situation of the state was also the reason for the delay in making political appointments.

“Even those I have appointed so far have not been paid salaries.

“I myself have not received a single month salary as I speak with you; we want to settle civil servants salaries first,” he said.

On insecurity, Governor Lalong said 150 additional mobile police officers were recently deployed to the state to curb communal attacks, particularly in Barkinladi and Riyom local government areas where violence has continue unabated.

On the recovery of public funds allegedly looted by his predecessor, Jonah Jang, Mr. Lalong said he has handed the matter to the anti-graft agency, EFCC, to investigate and bring defaulters to book.

“Since the two weeks grace I gave them elapsed without any response, I have written to EFCC to take over from where we stop, but if they delay in the assignment, I will remind them again,” he said.

Mr. Lalong also said his administration has paid 5 out of the 7 months workers’ salaries arrears he inherited.

“We will pay the 6th month tomorrow (Monday),” he said.

The governor also said that the Plateau crisis lingered because security operatives were owed 6 months allowances, which his administration has settled.

He explained that the state was yet to access the federal government bailout funds. According to him, Plateau will be in the next batch of states to receive the bailout funds.

Commenting on the allegation that his administration has already borrowed money, he explained that he took a loan of N4.5 billion to settle workers’ salaries.

This May Be Why Jonathan Couldn’t End Boko Haram Insurgency (Must Read)

As President Muhammadu Buhari looks into the Boko Haram war efforts of the last administration, information has emerged that Nigeria’s traditional allies in the West deliberately frustrated the efforts of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s, towards bringing an end to terrorists’ activities in the country.

A security source disclosed in Abuja that Nigeria, during Jonathan’s administration, 25 letters were written to the United States of America and other Western nations, seeking to acquire weapons to combat the terrorists, but they all turned down the requests.

“What was most painful was the fact that Nigeria was not begging to be given those weapons as gifts.

We were ready to pay for them but they turned their backs on us when we needed them most.“

The same people who made all the promises about assisting us to bring an end to the Boko Haram attacks and bring back the abducted Chibok girls did everything they could to frustrate our efforts.

“A conclusion was reached that the nation would suffer more devastation should she continue to beg those we regarded as our friends when things were going on well with us.

It was at that point that the nation had to look elsewhere, especially towards the East and Asia”, he said.

After Failing Exam, Teenager Disappears For Fear Of Repeating Class

Janet Abiodun, 18, and her friend Evenly Apalowe, 17, have absconded from home after failing their promotion exam to SS2 at New Era Girls Secondary School, Surulere, Lagos. Janet’s aunt, Mrs Olufolake Oyinloye, said she has searched everywhere for her, saying it’s not a crime to repeat a class.

She recalled that when Janet collected her first term result, she had given her some gifts and urged her to do better next time. Three days after they left home, Evelyn called her father that she was in Ibadan. But since then she hasn’t been reachable. Evelyn’s aunt however said that this isn’t the first time Evelyn is absconding from home and she’s sure she’d soon return home.

Mrs Oyinloye said: “I am not the harsh type. The only time I would say I scolded Janet was when she collected her 2nd term result and hid it from me.” Asked if Janet might have a lover, Oyinloye said no, stressing that the girl has sworn to her that she is a virgin….. all 18-year-old girls in Nigeria r virgins anyway..

Governor Ambode Bashed For ‘Embarrassing’ V.P Osinbajo On Instagram (Photo)

The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (Trem) General Overseer Bishop Mike Okonkwo had his birthday today at the church headquarters. The birthday was graced by Dignitaries of the nation, including the Vice president and Governor of Lagos state.

But the most disappointing thing was that a picture on @akinwunmiambode instagram having the V. President in it, just recognised ONLY the Governor but classified, V. P Prof Yemi Osinbajo as “Other Dignitaries” instead of recognising the V. P first,

Then the governor then other Dignitaries but the handler of the Instagram threw caution in the air, ANYWAY he his now receiving bashing of his life as Nigerians are already blasting him and putting him where he belongs.

Guatemala election: Votes counted in presidential poll

Latin America & CaribbeanImageAPImageVoters queued up from the early hours of Sunday to cast their ballots

Polls have closed in Guatemala, where a new president and congress are being elected amid a deep political crisis.

Former President Otto Perez Molina resigned earlier this week and was swiftly arrested over a customs fraud scheme.

Many Guatemalans had called for the polls to be postponed in the wake of the allegations.

Leading contenders include centre-right businessman Manuel Baldizon and comic actor Jimmy Morales.

If, as expected, no candidate wins 50% of the vote, there will be a second round of voting on 25 October.

"Guatemala wants change and to not be governed by people with dark pasts," said Mr Morales after voting near Guatemala City.

"Guatemala wants to live in peace. Guatemala wants elections," Mr Baldizon told journalists after casting his vote.

There had been calls for Guatemalans to wear black clothes of mourning as they cast their vote, amid scepticism that the poll could achieve political change.

"I cast a blank vote in protest as the candidates are all bad, they're all the same as those who robbed from us," 34-year-old Josefa Hernandez told Reuters news agency in a suburb of Guatemala City.

"If nobody votes for them, maybe they'll realise we're fed up," she added.

But voters queued from the early hours to cast their ballots.

Electoral authorities said 50% of voters had cast their ballots five hours after polls opened.

Some 7.5 million people were eligible to vote in the polls.

Prosecutors accuse Mr Perez Molina of masterminding a scheme in which businessmen paid bribes to evade customs charges. He denies involvement.

This Government Will Make Nigeria Great Again – VP Osinbajo

The vice-president of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo today attended the 33rd Holy Ghost Convention of The Sword of the Spirit Ministries in Ibadan, headed by Bishop Wale Oke, where he spoke about the nation and assured Nigerians again that their government will make this nation great again. Osinbajo said it is too early to rate the president and himself in office now, but one thing he assures all is that this country will be great for us all to enjoy.

“I think that the nation has high expectations and I know that things are just getting better by the day. I believe that by the grace of God, all of those expectations and beyond will be met. So, we are looking forward to more exciting times and great things for this nation.

“We can’t talk about a policy direction in one year but am sure you heard the President’s speech on the economy and what to expect in the next few days. I hope we all heard what we’ve said about the economy especially what we intend to do in the area of agriculture, infrastructure, power, roads; so much has to be done. A lot of work to be done in the next few months, so we will see a lot.” Continue,,.

Speaking about his nomination back then as the vice-president, he recalled that a lot of pastors and general overseers wanted to know why he agreed to run for such a position….

“A meeting of men of God was called by Bishop Oke and they wanted to understand why it was that I was running for office and they wanted to ask questions about the threat of Islamisation. They needed answers.

“After I answered the questions, they began to support the effort. They decided that they have heard enough and they were convinced that what the Lord was about to do was something that will make a difference in this country.

“I am happy they have not been disappointed. God fulfilled the promise and we won the election.

“Winning an election and being the Vice President is nothing. The most important thing is that God has said that we must be the light of the world. All the accolades and prestige of my office cannot compare with the duty that God has given us to be true disciples.

“I pray that God will help me and the President to truly do the work. With the prayers of Nigerians, we will see a change, prosperity and all of us will enjoy this nation,” he said.

Traffic Robbery Kingpin Arrested At Mile 2 Lagos (Photo)

Operatives of Lagos State Police Command have arrested Monday Ubi for allegedly robbing a passenger in traffic.

Ubi, described as a “traffic robbery kingpin” was arrested at Mile 2 by the Response Squad (RRS) following the victim, Orji Ogbonnaya’s distress call.

Ubi was said to have removed N28,000 from Ogbonnaya’s pocket inside a Festac Town-bound bus.

Ogbonnaya told the police that Ubi, who sat beside him, stylishly removed the money.

Ogbonnaya said: “I boarded a bus to Mile 2 from Oshodi. On getting to Toyota, the suspect came in because there were still spaces in the bus.

I didn’t have an inkling that he had a mission. I adjusted a bit from him and he also did making him closer to me.

When I noticed that he had removed the money from my pocket after I touched my thigh, I pretended as if nothing had happened. Then I started looking if I could see any police patrol vehicle.

“When we reached Mile 2, he wanted to alight from the bus but I held his trousers. As we alighted from the bus, I called the attention of the RRS patrol team I saw around.

“Unknown to me, he had passed the money to one of his gang members. But when the police surrounded us, a man dropped the money on the road and ran away.

It was when the suspect was being taken to the police headquarters that he confessed stealing my money and passing it to his partner.”

Ogbonnaya thanked the policemen for helping him to recover his money.

The suspect, who lives at Olutimeyin Street, Ayobo-Ipaja, said he is a member of the syndicate operating in Mile 2, Ajegunle and environs.

“I used to sell second-hand clothes at Kantangwa market along Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.

One of my customers introduced me to robbery. He taught me how to pick pockets without people’s knowledge.

I intentionally sat beside him in the bus because we know our victims. This is not my first time.

I have been in this profession for almost two years. I want the government to forgive me now that I know there is no gain in stealing,” Ubi said.

RRS Commander Olatunji Disu, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), said the squad was committed to free Lagos from any criminal acts.
